WCI Review – Harinder Sinhg Sabharwal – 3 Hands Deep Vol 1-3

Martial arts, as paralleled by other disciplined pursuits requiring the development of one’s body as an instrument, have been referred to as one’s ability to communicate uniquely and honestly through the expression of one’s body as it acts and interacts in any environment. Wing Chun is one art that often uses the phrase, “talking with the hands,” with Sifu Harinder Singh Sabharwal opening the lines of communication and attacking with this extensive release that comprises three DVDs in a well-produced digital instalment. Over three hours of concepts, subjects, strategies and scenarios are explored to turn the talk into walk.

A few TV Shows/Movies EWC has helped with, or had products in.

Everything Wing Chun has been involved with, or sold products to, quite a few TV shows and movies over the years. While nothing so glamorous as doing the fight choreography for one of the Ip Man movies or training one of the actors in Wing Chun like some of our Wing Chun friends have, it is still nice to be involved in our own way. Especially since the owner has written, acted, and done some fight choreography of his own back in the day. So these are just a few of the shows the company Everything Wing Chun has been a part of in a small way.

Buick Yip Swords Given to Mike Tyson at Ip Man 3 Opening

We found this to be interesting. At the opening to the Film, “Ip Man 3”, a pair of swords designed for the Everything Wing Chun site by Buick Yip were given to Mike Tyson and used in demos by Donnie Yen. You can see Buick’s calligraphy on the swords if you look carefully. It says “Wing Chun” on one blade and “Bot Jarm Do” (8-Cut Swords, the name for the butterfly swords) on the other.

WCI Review – Randy Williams’ Bot Jom Doh Form: 108 Motions

Wing Chun’s reputation is primarily recognised for its signature Vertical Fist, Chi Sau and Wooden Dummy training to develop attributes with lightning speed and accuracy, allowing the practitioner to effectively subdue an opponent quickly with an array of weapons delivered with both arms and legs.

Of less recognition are the weapons of the system that, for generations, maintained an air of mystique and exclusivity to the versed practitioner that only the most dedicated and skilled ones would have the opportunity to learn and train. In particular, the most attractive of the two weapons, Bot Jom Doh. Sifu Randy Williams goes into depth, with the history and facts, complete form, hand details, footwork, form orientation, and one-man drills, through six chapters of this instalment.

Traditional vs Parallel Arms on a Wooden Dummy

The second most common question we get in regards to wooden dummies (after “What height should my wooden dummy arms be off the floor“) is, “Should I get traditional or parallel arms and what is the difference?”. So we decided to tackle that question here.
