A common question we get from customers is, “What do I fill my wallbag with?” Typically our answer is, “Ask your Sifu!”, because your Sifu is the one in charge of your training and many Sifus have specific requirements or specific recommendations for your training. But if you are new, without a Sifu, or just curious then this is what we recommend:
I had some customers a while back that wanted to use poles for smash training. With this type of training you are smashing the tip of the pole into various objects on the floor very hard and often. (Remember the scene from Warriors Two where they are smashing walnuts? It is the non-theatrical version of this training). It is one of the most intense uses of the long pole.
Around that time I had about 20 different poles in my garage, so I was able to fully test these poles for flexibility and strength. This is what I found and how I tested.

Designing knives for the Wing Chun community is tough because it is an aggregation of different lineages and schools. While the length of the knife is determined either by the inside or outside measure on the elbow (depending on the lineage), there are no consistent preferences on any of the other key design elements such as: blade profile (stabber, chopper, good mix of both), blade capabilities/purposes (i.e., demonstration only or serious weapon vs. weapon training), D Guard purpose (trap, flip, combination), preferred knuckle bow shape, handle style, handle materials, point of balance and weight.
