Review – David Peterson’s Muk Yan Jong Seminar

The dictionary defines the word “definitive” as “…most reliable or complete, as of a text, author, criticism, study,” and also, “…having its fixed and final form; providing a solution or final answer; satisfying all criteria.” And this is exactly what this DVD is. It is the most comprehensive and informative DVD I have watched in my time writing for WCI. David Peterson has been training in the Chinese martial arts since 1973. He became a student of Wong Shun Leung after travelling to Hong Kong in 1983. It is David’s sole aim to pass on the skills, knowledge and understanding of Wing Chun exactly as Sifu taught them to him.

Review – Gary Lam’s Awesome Kicking Techniques DVD

“Awesome Kicking Techniques” is the second of sifu Lam’s Wing Chun kicking DVDs. Essentially, this DVD is a DVD that uses various exercises, equipment and drills, both alone and with partner, to enhance and train Wing Chun kicking. In that respect this DVD is quite different from Sifu Lam’s other Wing Chun kicking DVD, “Wing Chun Kicking 1.” It should be stated that this is an advanced level Wing Chun DVD and not for the beginning Wing Chun student.

Review – Wong & Bustillo’s Bruce Lee’s Fighting Method

Bruce Lee is still as popular now as he was before his untimely passing in 1973, so this DVD will need no introduction.

However, Bruce’s fighting method, Jeet Kune Do, like Wing Chun, has had its fair share of political in-fighting over the years. Despite this, JKD is still vastly popular and it is clear from this DVD that what Lee showed on screen is a world apart from what he taught in his private classes.

Review – Gary Lam’s Fighting Strategy Seminar

Gary Lam is very well known and respected in the Wong Shun Leung Ving Tsun community, but to other lineages he may need a brief introduction. Gary Lam trained with Master Wong Shun Leung for fifteen years and served as the instructor at Wong’s school for an additional six years. As Wong Shun Leung’s top student, Lam put his Wing Chun skills to test by entering many tournaments and defeating the opposition. He was crowned Hong Kong Full Contact Tournament Champion in 1978-1979. In 1991, his Wing Chun peers in Hong Kong elected him the President of the Hong Kong Wing Chun Society. Fighting Strategy is one of many Lam titles available from Cranes Production and focuses on the plans and tips you need to improve your overall fighting ability—in the ring and on the street.

Review – Everything Wing Chun Dummy Pads

This is a Customer Testimonial for leather our Mook Jong pad.  We have a number of them, but Brad was kind enough to provide pictures! We like the home-made dummy setup – very cool, Brad – and thanks for the kind words!:

“As soon as I received my leather Mook Jong pad, I was eager to test it out so I could finally give my wooden dummy some decent strikes without having to worry about hurting myself. I wrapped it around the dummy and strapped it on and it was a perfect fit! (my dummy is 9 inch in diameter) I tested it out with various strikes, and found it to be very

Review – Robert Chu Masterclass Wing Chun Kuen

I once listened to a podcast by Karate pioneer Iain Abernethy that promised to reveal “The Biggest Secret in the Martial Arts!” I listened with excitement until Iain revealed this bombshell: Martial Arts can actually be fun! Simple, but true. And this is the first thing I would say about this DVD set: it is great fun and I thoroughly enjoyed viewing each of its volumes.
