Tyler R. Rea - Wing Chun Jook Wan Huen System: The Omnibus Edition cover

Tyler Rea has an extensive amount of training and experience in martial arts. He has been studying martial arts for 30 years. Some of the credentials include Kodokan Judo, Uechi-Ryū Karate, Xing Yi Quan, Pencak Silat, Ip Man Wing Chun and Wing Chun Jook Wan Huen, Northern Seven Star Mantis and Chu Southern Praying Mantis.

Wing Chun: Jook Wan Huen System goes in-depth with various training tools and methods, such as the Bamboo and Brass Rings, Training Dummies, Weighted Club Training, and more. You are in for a treat! The explanations are very clear, the instructions are straightforward, and there are plenty of diagrams and pictures to follow along.

There are many ideas and training drills to improve your Wing Chun or other martial arts skills. This book results from combining four previous books written by Tyler into one—the Omnibus Edition. If you want to step up your skills, Tyler's knowledge and grasp of the Jook Wan Huen system of Wing Chun will thoroughly fascinate you.

I really like the chapter "Energetics", where the four energies are explained. If you are not familiar with them, they are Float, Sink, Swallow and Spit. The concept of each one is explained, and how and what to use them for. Float is to rise or move up, Sink is to fall or go down, Swallow is to expand and Spit is to contract.

Wing Chun: Jook Wan Huen System is like an in-depth training manual to learn proper movements and techniques, and to help with that, how to find or make good training equipment to aid with developing your skills and strength. You will be able to use this training manual to maintain and strengthen your skills, techniques and structure.

There are many Wing Chun lineages, some are slightly different in their teachings but they all have many similarities and share the same basis of the system. The Jook Wan Huen Wing Chun system also has the same foundation as many lineages. These lessons, explanations and pieces of training will get you to the same results but may be understood or trained differently with the same merit.

Tyler has done an excellent job with this latest edition. The book is packed with so much information; it makes for a fantastic addition to anyone's martial arts library. If you are ready to learn and grow your Wing Chun, this is the book for exercise and training reference. Highly recommended.
