Randy Williams - Chee Sau Concept & Strategy Part 2: Combat Sticky Hands cover

Randy Williams is presenting the second part of his video series about "Combat Sticky Hands". The first part demonstrated basic drills, while in this instalment Williams provides detailed instruction about rolling in Chi Sau and the use of various attacks.

The 43-minute video is loaded with practical information, presented in an easy-to-understand way—just like all of Sifu Williams' videos.

Williams starts off by explaining how to perform rolling in Chi Sau. The roll is explained and demonstrated in detail, including the various possible switches of the hands while rolling.

Following this presentation, Williams demonstrates the techniques at full speed and in slow motion, so the techniques are clear to the viewer. A large variety of techniques are shown, including some traps and attacks using a wide range of tools.

Anyone familiar with Sifu Williams knows about his love of headbutting, which he does several times throughout the video. He says that some would argue that this is not a Wing Chun technique, but Sifu Williams believes it is, and he demonstrates a move from the Bil Jee form, which he interprets as a headbutt.

Williams also uses various kicks during Chi Sau, and a large variety of elbow strikes. There are also knee strikes and even a few joint locks. Of course, you also see the usual Wing Chun tools, such as straight punches and open-hand strikes. Sifu Williams also uses a horizontal fist at times. His trapping skills are impressive and exceptional!

The last five or so minutes of the video, are spent on what Sifu Williams calls, "Response Chain Techniques". These are basically drills where the practitioners practise their blocks and counterattacks. The drills are certainly interesting.

This video provides excellent instruction on rolling and attacking during Chi Sau practice. It is enjoyable to watch, and anyone can learn a few moves from it to add to their repertoire. A bonus of the video is Sifu Williams' humour, which is used more sparingly in this video than in some of his other videos.
